allergy
comes from the greek and means “extrinsic reaction”. defined as an allergy here is an overshooting defence reaction of the immune system to specific and normally harmless environmental matter (allergens), which is displayed in typical symptoms which are often accompanied by inflammable processes
aromatherapy
denotes the controlled use of essential oils, in order to safeguard one’s own and others’ health. whilst influencing spirit, body and soul in a positive way.
arthritis
is of greek origin and denotes arthritis or “joint wear”, which exceeds age-typical levels.
asthma
a chronic, inflammable illness of the air ways with lasting oversensibility. With persons of a certain disposition this inflammation leads to a narrowing of the air ways.
ayurveda
“ayur” means “long life”, “veda” means “knowledge”. ayurveda, in other words, is knowledge for a long life. with all its facets. holistic alternative medicine. to prevent illnesses. and for treating illnesses. particularly chronic ones. an effective way to inner and external balance.

a greek term. composed of “homoion” (= similar, identical) and “pathos” (= suffer, illness). an alternative medical treatment method, based on ideas published from 1796 by the german doctor
samuel hahnemann. lying behind this is the idea of substances or medicaments, which in high dosages would cause a similar illness, are prepared and administered in small amounts. for simulation of self-healing powers: heal similar things by similar things (lat. “similia similibus curentur”).

derived from greek spasmos = “cramp” and describes an increased tension of the skeleton muscles in a typical way, which is always a result of damage to the brain or spinal cord.
stroke (apoplexy)
is defined as a sudden appearance of heavy bleeding in the brain through stroke or cerebral bleeding, accompanied by loss of consciousness and signs of paralysis, and mostly loss of speech (aphasy) and disorder of the senses too.

the special form of acupunctire developed in south korea combines aspects and experience of chinese, tibetan and indian medicine. the diversity of treatment options make su-jok a very effective method of diagnosis and therapy which can be learnt fast.

thalasso therapy
the word “thalasso” is derived from the greek thalassa = sea and denotes treatment with active ingredients from the sea. the idea behind it: regard the sea as the start of all life and source of healing. use its feel-good power. its useful active ingredients from the sea itself. from algae, of the silt and sea salt. for optimising of blood flow. and to encourage detoxication. for cleansing the skin. and for stimulating the metabolism. especially recommended with rheumatism, spines and metabolism disorders, arthritis in the hips and kneed joints, sleeplessness and skin illnesses.
thrombosis
is a vessel illness with a blood clot (thrombus) forming in a vessel. whilst thrombosis can occur in all vessels, colloquially a thrombosis of the veins is generally meant. a thrombus develops through blood clotting – an occurrence which is actually a protective mechanism. following an external injury the clotting system protects the body from bleeding to death. the blood forms clumps and seals the wound. in the uninjured blood vessels however the blood is not supposed to form clumps but flow uninterrupted. This is where a clot is dangerous – as a disruptive ob stacle to the blood flow and as source of lung emboli.
tinnitus
denotes a symptom, with the patient perceiving noises, which in most cases have no source which is externally perceivable to other persons.
traditional medicine
known colloquially and less precisely for denoting medicine, taught and developed at universities and medical colleges in accordance with natural-scientific principles. the term is used to differentiate between medical and naturopathy teaching and practices, which are not part of the teaching syllabus of academic medicine.
traumatic brain injury
denotes injury to the skull involving the brain, but no pure skull fractures or cut on the head. owing to the danger of cerebral bleeding or other complications observation in hospital is recommended for all patients with traumatic brain injury (including “merely” concussion).
